This Cookie Policy explains how freeoftie.com/ uses cookies and similar technologies, and how you can control them. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your computer, phone or tablet when you visit. They’re widely used to make websites work, remember your preferences and give site owners information about how their site is used. Similar technologies, such as local storage and tracking pixels, work in a similar way, and we treat them the same as cookies in this policy.
Some cookies are set by the website you’re visiting (“first-party cookies”). Others are set by other companies whose services the site uses (“third-party cookies”). Some last only until you close your browser (“session cookies”), while others stay on your device for a set period (“persistent cookies”).
How we use cookies
Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and UK data protection law, we can only set cookies that aren’t strictly necessary if you agree to them. We group cookies into four categories:
- Strictly necessary: these are needed for the site to work properly and securely, for example to remember your cookie choices, keep the site secure and, for administrators, keep you logged in. They can’t be switched off through the cookie banner.
- Preferences: these remember choices you make to give you a more personal experience. We only set them with your consent.
- Statistics: these help us understand how visitors use the site, such as which pages are popular, so we can improve it. If and when we enable Google Analytics, it will use statistics cookies, and only with your consent.
- Marketing: these may be used to show relevant adverts or measure how well they perform, now or in future as we introduce advertising. We only set them with your consent.
Some pages may include content from other services, such as embedded videos or social media posts. Those services may set their own cookies, which are covered by the providers’ own cookie and privacy policies.
Managing your consent
When you first visit freeoftie.com/, a cookie banner asks whether you're happy for us to use non-essential cookies. Nothing other than strictly necessary cookies is set until you make a choice. You can accept all cookies, reject non-essential cookies or choose by category.
You can change your mind at any time. Use the cookie settings link or icon on the site to reopen the banner and update your choices. Withdrawing consent stops those cookies being set from then on. You may also want to clear any cookies already on your device using your browser settings.
The cookie banner keeps an up-to-date record of the cookies the site currently uses, including what each one does and how long it lasts.
Controlling cookies in your browser
Most web browsers let you view, block and delete cookies. You’ll usually find these options in your browser’s settings, under “Privacy” or “Cookies and site data”. The help pages for popular browsers explain how:
Please note that blocking all cookies, including strictly necessary ones, may stop parts of the site from working properly. For more general information about cookies, visit the Information Commissioner’s Office website at https://ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time, for example if we start using new services such as analytics or advertising. We’ll post the updated version here and change the “Last updated” date.
